PIONEER RESIDENT WENT TO HER REWARD YESTERDAY CAME TO DES MOINES COUNTY IN 1854. FUNERAL WILL TAKE PLACE MONDAY AFTERNOON.

Mrs. Catherine Brookhiser passed away yesterday morning at the residence of her daughter Mrs. Minnie Behne, No. 407 Harrison Avenue. She belongs to the older generation of residents of German birth and was held in high esteem by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. She was born in Hamburg, Germany, August 2, 1828, was educated abroad and was joined in marriage there to Frank Brookhiser. The young couple crossed the ocean soon after their wedding and came to Burlington 1854. They concluded that the best opportunity for a new comer was on the soil and so they settled down to rural life. They worked hard were fair in all their dealings and soon was friends in the New World. In the course of the years they prospered, as they deserved. The husband passed away in 1882, but Mrs. Brookhiser remained on the home place almost to the close of her days. Deceased is survived by three children: Mrs. Behne and William Brookhiser of Burlington, and Emil Brookhiser of Carman, Ill.

The Funeral of this good woman will be held from the home of Mrs. Behne, No. 407 Harrison Avenue, at 1:30 o'clock Monday afternoon. Friends are invited to these services.
