Walter R. Rehm, 76 of Oquawka, Ill. died at 2:48 p.m. Sunday March 31, 2002 at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born Nov. 26, 1925, in Burlington, he was the son of William R. and Florence M. Brookhiser Rehm. On June 17, 1961, he married Doris M. Dillon in Macomb, Ill. She died June 26, 2000.

Mr. Rehm was a meteorologist and set up a weather station in Saudi Arabia. He was co-owner and operator of Doris Hairstyling Lounge and Perm Factory in Burlington until 1980. He ten drove a semi for Brookhiser and carrier of Wever until retiring in 1995.

He attended Burlington School through the age of 17. He was a staff sergeant in the Air Force. While in the service, he obtained his GED and education in the field of meteorology. He was a member of the National Association of Hairdressers and Cosmetologist and the Hair Fashion Committee. He was the recipient of many trophies in hairstyling and hair coloring.

Survivors include one step-daughter, Rebecca Tee of Oquawka; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; one brother August F. Vahle of Burlington; two sisters, Jean Day and Emma L. Bruhl, both of Burlington; a special friend Virginia Yoder of Monmouth, Ill; six nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, and a stepson.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Spring Grove United Methodist Church in Burlington.

A Memorial service for Mr. Rehm will be at 2 p.m. at Spring Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Mixon officiating. The body has been cremated. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13 in Oquawka Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Spring Grove United Methodist Church.

Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka is in charge of arrangements.
