Earman Hetrick

Earman A. Hetrick, 94, of Carman, Ill., died at 10:54 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 1999, at Burlington Medical Center.

Born Feb. 8, 1905, in Sedora, Ill., he was the son of James and Margaret Turner Hetrick. On Jan. 18, 1928, he married Mary Rettig in Burlington. She died in November 1949. He later married Frances "Polly" Stimpson on June 6, 1950 in Burlington.

Mr. Hetrick lived in Oklahoma during his youth and moved to the Carman-Lomax, Ill. area at the age of 13. He was a commercial fisherman in this area all his life and also worked as a supervisor during the construction of Lock & Dam 18 near Gladstone, Ill.

He was a member of the former Carman Oddfellows Lodge and served on the Carman School board, Carman Cemetery Association Board, Carman-Lomax Senior Citizens board and served as Democratic Chairman of Carman township. He was also a member of the board of Carman United Methodist church.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Emma Jean Snyder of Burlington and Rosemary Christiansen of Davenport; three sons, William Hetrick and Kendall Hetrick, both of Carman, and Larry Hetrick of Selma, Ala.; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday in Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, Ill. where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Hetrick will be 10 a.m. Monday in Carman United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Marian Stone officiating. Burial will be in Carman Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Carman United Methodist Church and the Carman-Lomax Senior Citizens.
