William Joseph Ortman

NAUVOO, Ill. - William Joseph Ortman, 79, Nauvoo, Ill., a native of Burlington, died at his home on White Street Monday, Oct. 31.

Kenneth Kincaid, deputy Hancock County coroner, said death was due to a heart attack.

Mr. Ortman was born June 23, 1904, to William and Tressa Ortman. He had been a railway mail clerk, and a salesman for Massengill Pharmaceutical Co.

He married Katherine Haugh in Burlington Oct. 23, 1937. He was a member of St. Peter-Paul Catholic Church of Nauvoo.

Surviving: the wife; son, William,Jr. Springfield, Ill.; sister Margaret Ortman, Burlington; and two grandchildren.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday in St. John Catholic Church, the Rev. Donald Redmond; Sacred Heart Cemetery; Rosary: Prugh's Chapel at 7 p.m. Wednesday. A memorial has been established.
