Dean Edmond Eastin, 81, of Burlington died at 9:05 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, at his home. Born Feb. 9, 1923, in Bethany, Mo., he was the son of Lawrence "Tom" H. and Opal Mae Scott Eastin. On April 28, 1943, he married Clella Catherine Hamilton in Trenton, Mo.
Mr. Eastin was a salesman at Montgomery Ward for 40 years. He was a member of SS. Mary & Patrick Catholic Church. He enjoyed work and cars. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Sharon Heintz of Ventura, California, Sheryl Eastin of Iowa City, Sue Engler of Coralville and Sandra Grinnell of Burlington; three sons, Michael Eastin and Steven Eastin, both of Burlington, and Gregory Eastin of West Burlington; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and one brother, Ray Eastin of Roswell, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and one grandson.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to noon Monday at Prugh's Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. at SS. Mary & Patrick Catholic Church in West Burlington followed by a 6 p.m. wake service, with the family receiving friends until 8 p.m. The Mass of Christian burial for Mr. Eastin will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at SS. Mary & Patrick Catholic Church in West Burlington, with the Rev. Jerry Stouvenel officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
