Gary L. McMillan, 55, of Burlington, died at 10:32 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born April 21, 1952, in Burlington, he was the son of Robert Duane Sr. and Waunieta Dunn McMillan. On Nov. 9, 1995, he married Lori Stines in Keokuk.

Mr. McMillan worked at J.I. Case Company for 30 years, retiring in 2000. He graduated in the first class of the new Burlington High School in 1970. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 807 and enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting mushrooms and barbecue grilling.

Survivors include his wife; his father and stepmother, Robert and Marjorie McMillan of Burlington; his mother, Waunieta Kerby of West Burlington; four sons, twins, Garett McMillan and Landon McMillan, both at home, Shane Kennedy of Indiana, and Ryan McMillan of Iowa; two grandchildren; two brothers, Robert McMillan and Greg McMillan, both of Burlington; three sisters, Kathy Weiler of Tequesta, Fla., Connie Taylor of Quincy, Ill., and Betty Jo Frank of West Burlington; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and two stepfathers.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home in Burlington. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday prior to the funeral. The body has been cremated.

The memorial service for Mr. McMillan will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Chapel of Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Dutzer officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial has been established for his children's education.
