Melvin Norris
Melvin C. "Mel" Norris, 63, of Monmouth, Ill., died at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth.

Born June 24, 1944, in Burlington, he was the son of Warren N. and Marie C. McCarty Norris. On June 22, 2002, he married Juanita M. Heine in Monmouth.

Mr. Norris worked for 21 years at Warren Achievement Industries in Monmouth and then drove for City Cab Co. in both Monmouth and Galesburg, Ill. He was reared and educated in Burlington, where he attended local schools and Burlington High School. He loved bowling, fishing and bingo.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Brenda Dillie of Burlington; one son, Danny Norris of Stronghurst, Ill.; one granddaughter; and one sister, Barbara Wagoner of Katy, Texas.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, where the family will receive friends.

His body will be cremated after the visitation.

A memorial has been established.
