Sandra S. Cary

Mrs. Sandra S. Cary, 62, of Danville, Iowa went to be with the Lord at 4:00 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2007, at Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

Born February 6, 1945 in Davenport, Iowa she was the daughter of Raymond and Darlene Schroeder Bang. On September 8, 1962 she married James M. Cary at the Methodist parsonage in Mediapolis, Iowa.

Mrs. Cary attended Morning Sun High School and received her Licensed Practical Nurse degree at John Wood Community College in Quincy, Illinois. She worked at Washington Heights in Burlington and Park Place Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant, retiring in 2006 due to health reasons.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, mentor through Young House Family Services, very active in Toys for Tots Program, and committee member for Miss Burlington Scholarship Program. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, shopping, sports and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, James M. Cary of Danville; two sons, Brad (Amy) Cary of Edwardsville, Illinois and J. Todd (Laura) Cary of Burlington; one daughter, Suzanne (Tobias) Lunsford of Burlington; seven grandchildren, Brock and Chad of Edwardsville, Kyle of Crocker, Missouri, Alison and J. Blake of Burlington and Mariah and Adryonna also of Burlington; three great granddaughters, Cadence and Autumn both of Burlington and Ellianna of Crocker, Missouri; three brothers, Ronnie (Blanca) Bang of Alameda, California, Raymond “Skip” (Peggy) Bang of Peoria, Arizona, and Robert (Becky) Bang of Reno, Nevada; two sisters, Beverly (Dennis) Petersen of Mediapolis and Betty (Fred) Kube of DeWitt, Iowa; 18 nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Betty McWhortor and special friends, Dee Green and Elaine Green.

She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Christopher Cary, and her parents.

Friends May Call: Wednesday, October 10th from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM in Lunning Chapel
Family will receive friends: Wednesday, October 10th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in Lunning Chapel
Funeral Service: Thursday, October 11th at 10:30 AM in Grace United Methodist Church.
The Reverend Charles Downing will officiate
Inurnment: Kossuth Cemetery, Rural Mediapolis at a later date.
Memorials have been established for First United Methodist Church and the American
Cancer Society.
According to her wishes, the body of Mrs. Cary will be cremated following the funeral service.
