Charles W. Harwood

Charles William Harwood, 61, of 203 S. Marshall, was found dead at his home at approximately 1 p.m. Tuesday, Mar. 26, apparently the victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the head. A target pistol was found next to the body, police said. An autopsy was to be conducted.

He was born April 29, 1912, in Bradyville, Ia. He married Maxine Kelley in Oquawka, Ill., Jan. 14 1973. He was a security guard for the Hinesley Detective Agency, a first lieutenant of the Civil Air Patrol and member of the Iowa Army and Ammunition Plant Rifle & Pistol Club.

Surviving: the wife, one son, Paul,Boone; one stepson, Kent Kelley, Quincy, Ill.; five grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Nakashima and Mrs. Elmer Smith, both of Smithville, Mo.

Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Friday, Prugh's chapel, Rev. Leroy Moore, Memorial Park cemetery.
