David Roth

David R. Roth, 41, of San Diego, Calif., formerly of Rock Island, Ill., died at 203 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 1998, at Alvorado Medical Center in La Mesa, Calif.

Born April 8, 1956, in St. Louis, Mo., he was the son of George Emil and Betty Jane Blythe Roth.

Mr. Roth attended Rock Island schools and served in the Marine Corps from 1973 to 1976. He had been a mechanic in the automobile industry for 17 years.

He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church in Rock Island, a member of Boy Scout Troop 254 of Rock Island for many years, and sang in a church group called "Young Sounds.Survivors include his mother, Betty Roth of Burlington; two brothers, Gary Roth of Mount Pleasant and Stephen Roth of Burlington; five nieces; and four nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott Chapel in New London.

The funeral for Mr. Roth will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott Chapel, with the Rev. Larry Van Gundy officiating. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery in New London.

A memorial has been established.
