Erma Massey
Erma Massey, 75, of Donnellson died at 1:12 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, Ill.

Born Aug. 21, 1932, in St. Paul, she was the daughter of Rudolf and Elizabeth Umthun Hellweg. On Feb. 27, 1954, she married Harold "Skeet" Massey in St. Paul. He died.

Mrs. Massey was a babysitter in her home for many years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point and Southeast Iowa Antique Gas Engine Club. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, gardening, growing flowers and collecting salt and pepper shakers.

Survivors include five daughters, Leanne Babington of Revere, Mo., Roxanne Stemple of Donnellson, Lorianne Jarvis of Franklin, and Julianne Montrose and Marcianne Tabb, both of Farmington; one son, Robert Massey of Donnellson; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur Hellweg of Fairfield and Ronald Hellweg of Fort Madison; and one sister, Florence Brown of Fort Madison.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one grandson, three brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in West Point, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. and a wake service will be at 7 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, with the Rev. Apo T. Mpanda officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in West Point.

A memorial has been established for St. Mary's Catholic Church Renovation Fund.
