Mablejane Rankin

Mablejane Rankin, 80, formerly of Henderson County, Biggsville and Oquawka, Ill., died at 6:40 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at her home in Tucson, Ariz.

Born Aug. 22, 1921, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Alfred Guy and Gladys Grey Noble. On Oct. 3, 1942, she married Kenneth E. Rankin in St. Louis.

Mrs. Rankin was a homemaker. She also worked for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown for a time. She later worked for Judge Earl Knox as legal secretary in the offices in the Henderson County Courthouse.

She was raised in Oquawka, where she attended school. She enjoyed 4-H when her family was younger.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Sharilyn S. Stevenson of Tucson; one son, Garry L. Rankin of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be at Turnbull Funeral Home in Biggsville, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the time of service Thursday.

The funeral for Mrs. Rankin will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Turnbull Funeral Home, with the Rev. Suzanne Geer officiating. Burial will be in Biggsville Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Alzheimer's.
