Veda A."Alice" Rankin, 93, of 1130 E. Second Ave., Monmouth, Ill., died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 1992, at the Henderson County Retirement Center.

Born Oct. 3, 1898 in the Olena area of Henderson County, Ill., she was the daughter of David Allen and Lydia Burrell Perdue. She married Edgar S. Rankin Feb. 23, 1918, in Burlington. He died Nov. 17, 1972.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed raising flowers for show, competing in the Warren County Fair in Roseville, Ill., several times. She had lived in the Biggsville, Ill., until 1945 when she moved to Monmouth. She was a long-time member of the Monmouth Garden Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Annabell White of Carmen, Ill., and Doris Smith of Kirkwood, Ill.; one son, Kenneth E. Rankin of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Mary Long of Burlington; one brother, Ray Prier, of Whittier, Calif., five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

The graveside service for Mrs. Rankin was held this morning at Biggsville Cemetery with the Rev. William Morse officiating.

A memorial has been established for the Henderson County Retirement Center.

Sederwall Chapel, Biggsville, was in charge of arrangements.
