DEATH: Mrs. Brookhiser Dead After Long Illness at Age 67

Mrs. F. A. Brookhiser, 67, widely known in this community through
association with her husband for 17 years in the operation of Cedar Rapids
ballrooms, died at 5:20 p.m. Monday at her home, 398 Forest drive SE,after an illness of two years.
Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Barta chapel with the Rev. Paul Luther Miller, pastor of the First Lutheran church, officiating.
Pallbearers will be E. L. Morgan, H. V. Morgan, Henry Peters, J. Gregory,C. H.
Chapman and Charles Heaton. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the family lot
in Memorial cemetery, Burlington.
Surviving are her husband; two sisters, Mrs. H. M. DeMuth,Charleston, W. Va., and Mrs. H. A. Nelson, University City, Mo., and a niece, Lois Jane Nelson, University City, Mo.
Born Nov. 22, 1876, at Burlington, she was married to F. A. Brookhiser, Nov. 19, 1911, in St. Louis. They moved to Cedar Rapids from Burlington in 1923 to open the Dreamland ballroom. Later they owned and operated Danceland for 13 years until its sale three years ago. While actively associated with her
husband in operating the ballrooms, Mrs. Brookhiser made many friends among the young people of Cedar Rapids and the surrounding area.
A member of St. Paul's Methodist church, she belonged to its Philathea class. She was also a member of Cedar chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

Mrs. F.A. Brookhiser, former resident of Burlington, died at 6 p.m. Monday at her home in Cedar Rapids following a two year illiness.
Born Anna Petterson, in St. Louis, Mrs. Brookhiser is survived by her husband, Fred Brookhiser, at one time manager of the Military Ballroom here and two sisters, Mrs. G. Nelson, of St. Louis, and Ella Edmuth, residing in West Virginia.
Funeral Services will be held in Cedar Rapids Thursday, the cortege arriving here 2 p.m. for interment in Memorial cemetery where brief rites will be held at the grave.
