Donna Newman
Donna D. Newman, 74, of Dallas City, Ill., died at 10:38 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2007, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born June 4, 1933, in Dallas City, she was the daughter of Charles and Nellie May Winkler Wilcox. On Sept. 7, 1948, she married Joseph Newman. He died in 2004.

She worked at the Ordinance Plant, Sylvania, Sheaffer Pen and retired from the Dallas City Grade School. She attended Grace Bible Church in Dallas City. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening flowers, the river and fishing.

Survivors include four sons, Carl Newman of Pontoosuc, Ill., Ronald Newman of Macomb, Ill., Charles Newman and Kris Newman, both of Fort Madison; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Graber of Niota, Ill.; and two brothers, Robert Wilcox of Dallas City and Phillip Wilcox of Mediapolis.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter.

Visitation with family will be 6 to 9 this evening at her home at 2890 N. Illinois 9, Dallas City.

The graveside service for Mrs. Newman will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Harris Cemetery in Dallas City with the Rev. Larry VanGundy officiating.

A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.

Printy Funeral Home in Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
