Velda Shain

Velda Lavina Callaway Shain, 84, of Deer Park, Wash., formerly of Los Angeles, Calif., and Burlington, died at 230 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 1996.

Born Oct. 14, 1911, in Des Moines County, she was the daughter of Suell S. and Elizabeth "Libbie" Caroline Orchard Callaway.

Mrs. Shain moved the Los Angeles in the 1930s and worked and spent most of her life in the area. She moved to Deer Park to retire with her family.

Survivors include two sons, Ricky and Del Ray, both of Deer Park; four grandchildren, one brother, Delbert H. Callaway of Acton, Calif.; two nieces, Juewona Weiss of Burlington, and O'Kemm Dixon of Carman, Ill.; and two nephews including Patrick Callaway of Stockport.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

The service for Mrs. Shain will be 4 p.m. today at Lauers Funeral Homes in Deer Park.
