Crash Fatal to Drinkall

A tractor-truck accident near Mediapolis Thursday proved fatal to Edwin Arthur Drinkall, 50-year-old Mediapolis farmer.

Drinkall died at 8:15 p.m. Thursday at Burlington hospital. He sustained severe head and chest injuries about 9:30 a.m. when his tractor was hit from behind by the truck driven by Leroy Edwards, 31 Morning Sun. Also involved was the truck driven by Merlin Husmann, 20 of Anamosa, Rt.3.

Son Hospitalized
The farmer's son, Arthur Drinkall, 14, was listed in good condition Friday at Burlington hospital. He also was on the tractor and sustained a broken left leg in the crash, which occurred a half-mile north of Mediapolis on Highway 61.

Mediapolis Native

Edwin Drinkall had farmed about 1 1/2 miles north of Mediapolis for the past 3 1/2 years. He was born Oct. 5, 1908, near Mediapolis, the son of George and Martha Lee Drinkall. He was a member of the Mediapolis Methodist church.

Feb. 23, 1941, he was married to Jennie Bazel. She survives as do their son, Arthur; two sisters, Mrs. Viola Hummer and Mrs. Ethel Marshall, both of Burlington, and a brother, Lawrence of Rock Island, Ill.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Elliot-Lunning chapel. Rev. Wilbert P. Gouer officiating. Burial will be in Kossuth Cemetery.
