Rolland A. Meismer, 71, of Burlington, died 9:10 AM Thursday, July 7, 2005, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born May 5, 1934, in Hancock County, IL, he was the son of Albert and Rose Marchand Meismer. On August 10, 1957, he married Alma Siegfried in Fairfield, CT.

He was a salesman for 30 years with Sears in Burlington. He retired in 1984. He was a 1952 graduate of Carthage High School, Carthage, IL. He was an U.S. Army and Air Force Veteran. He was a member of SS. John and Paul Catholic Church. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and a recent member of the Harley Owners Group Club, and M.G. Car Club T-ABC’s Forever. He enjoyed gardening, his orchard, flying, boating, cycling, and restoring M.G. cars.

Survivors include his wife, Alma; one daughter, Lynn (Jim) O’Brien of Marion; two granddaughters, Kelsey and Haley; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

As per his request his body has been cremated. There will be no visitation. The Memorial Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Meismer will be 9:30 AM Saturday, July 9, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Patrick J. Hilgendorf as celebrant. Inurnment will be at a later date in Cedar Memorial Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, IA. In Lieu of flowers memorials have been established for the Crapo Park Foundation and St. Vincent de Paul food pantry.
