Darrell D. "Fritz" Walker, 73, of Danville, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2001, at his home.

Born July 19, 1927, in Yarmouth, he was the son of Edger R. and Daisy Bell Sams Walker. On Aug. 29, 1954, he married Bonnie Lucille Morgan in Burlington.

Mr. Walker owned and operated Walker Plumbing & Heating in Danville for 43 years.

He attended Mediapolis High School. He was a member of Harmony Bible Church in Danville. He was a World War II Navy veteran with the rank of yeoman and served in the Philippines. Music was a big part of his life. He loved boating and camping, but most of all, he loved his family.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Marlin Walker of Carbondale, Colo., and Damon Walker of Roscoe, Ill.; two daughters, Elaine Pence of Burlington and Gayle Bailey of Oquawka, Ill.; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda Lane of Mediapolis and Arlene Van Osdol of Keokuk; and three brothers, Kenneth Walker of Prescott, Ariz., Randall Walker of Burlington and Nathan Walker of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Visitation will begin after noon Monday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Walker will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Harmony Bible Church in Danville, with Pastor Mark Connelly officiating. Burial will be in Jaggar Cemetery in Danville.

A memorial has been established for Crossroads Hospice of Southeast Iowa.
