Melva Ritchey

Melva Hazel Ritchey, 84, of Danville died Friday, May 3, 1996, at the Henry County Health Center.

Born Sept. 3, 1911, at Pleasant Grove, she was the daughter of Milton and Mattie Toft Ritchey.

Mrs. Ritchey was a graduate of Danville High School. She helped care for her niece and nephews and later worked in the housekeeping department at the Holiday Motel in Burlington. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Danville, the Fidelis Sunday School Class, American Baptist Women, the Embassy Clubs, AARP, and was a volunteer for many years with Congregate Meals.

Survivors include a sister, Frances Ritchey Lippert of Danville; and a brother, Caryl Ritchey of Creighton, Neb.; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Visitation will be from noon to 630 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 830 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Ritchey will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Harry Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will be in Jaggar Cemetery, Danville.

A memorial has been established for the First Baptist Church of Danville.
