Myron Schulz Sr.

Myron Frederick Schulz Sr., 89, of 380 Green Acres Drive, Mediapolis, died Monday, Jan. 15, 1996, at Community Care of America of Mediapolis.

Born July 28, 1906, near Kingston, he was the son of Fred and Lizzie Gibbs Schulz. He married Opal Hillyard Oct. 12, 1927, in Burlington.

Mr. Schulz was a farmer and had operated a John Deere dealership and Mediapolis Lanes, both of Mediapolis. In his earlier years, he enjoyed playing baseball and was an avid fisherman. He was a member of United Methodist Church of Kingston, had served as president of the Des Moines County Farm Bureau and was a past governor of the Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Myron Schulz Jr. of rural Burlington and Don Schulz of Mediapolis; two daughters, Velma Scheitlin of Mediapolis and Thelma Siegle of Oakville; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; one brother, Carl Schulz of Burlington; and one sister, Esther Finke of Danville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and a grandchild.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis.

The funeral for Mr. Schulz will be 1030 a.m. Thursday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, with ministers of the Oakville Apostolic Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Kossuth Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for the Mediapolis Community Ambulance Service and the Apostolic Christian Church of Oakville.
