ANKELE, DAVID, REV., Pastor of the St. Lucas Evangelical Church, cor. of South and 14th sts.; he was born Feb. 16, 1826, in Germany ; came to America in 1853, and located in Galveston, Texas ; finished his education in his native country, and was prepared to commence his labors as soon as he arrived at his new home; he came to Burlington in March, 1878, having received a call from the Church he now occupies. He married, in December, 1854, Dorethea Matzke. Independent in politics.
