Our community is saddened over the tragic death of Fred Brockmeier, son of Mrs. Henry Brockmeier, who lives three or four miles west of town. Last evening he and several others went to Elk to go in bathing. After sometime he was missed by his companions, who supposed he had left the water and gone home. Failing to locate him on inquiry, the creek was searched and his dead body discovered by George Rulon in several feet of water. It is supposed he was seized with cramps. He was a good, industrious young man, about 20 years of age, the second eldest son of a widowed mother, who has the heartfelt sympathy of all in this unspeakable tragedy several brothers and sisters survive. The manner of his death makes an early burial necessary; hence the funeral services will be held this afternoon, in charge of Rev. Brandenburg, pastor of Zion, M. E. Church.
