RANDY THOM

Memorial services for Randall Lee "Randy" Thom will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Palmer.

Mr. Thom died in a plane crash March 20, 1986, near Lime Village. He was 23.

He was born March 1, 1963 in Manchester, Iowa. He moved to Alaska with his parents in 1971. He graduated from Palmer High School in 1981, afterward attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Randy got his pilot's license when he was 16 years old. He was working for Woods Air Service in Palmer as a mechanic and pilot at the time of his death.

He is survived by his family in Palmer: his parents, Robert and Marilyn Thom, and his sisters and brother, Kristy, Sheri and Barry Thom; his maternal grandparents, Lowell and Madonna Kauffman, and his paternal grandparents, Orville and Marjorie Thom, all of Wintrop, Iowa; and several aunts uncles and cousins.

The memorial service will be held in conjunction with services for Bud Woods, who also died in the crash. Archbishop of Anchorage Francis Hurley and the Rev. Gerald T. Ryan, C.S.Sp., will celebrate the Mass. Several pilots will perform a Missing Man Fly-by Formation above Palmer Airport during the service.

Memorials may be made to the Randy Thom Memorial Fund, S.R.A. Box 6007, Palmer, Alaska, 99645.

Arrangements were by Kehl's mortuaries in Anchorage and Palmer.
