AGED MAN’S DEATH

Dyersville, Sept. 23- Anton Mueller, a pioneer business man of Dyersville, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Rieger at Manchester, Thursday, Sept. 12, after an illness of only a week’s duration. The cause of death was peritonitis. Mr. Mueller was born in Paris, France, on April 23, 1835. At the age of eighteen he came to America with his parents, a sister and a brother, and settled on a farm near Monticello. In 1869 he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Ann Stoll of Cascade. After fourteen years of farming he moved to Dyersville where he was engaged in business for thirty-five years. After seventeen years of happy married life his home was sadden by the death pf his wife. Two years later he married Mrs. Mary Schleuter of Dubuque who also preceded him in death twenty-two years ago. He then retired from business and with the exception of five years spent at St. Francis Home for the Aged, he spent the rest of his life with his daughter Mrs. Rieger.

He is survived by five children, Otillia, Mrs. Paul Streit, Dyersville; Amelia, J. F. Brass, Wabasha, Minn.; Anna, Mrs. F. J. Rieger, Manchester; John F., Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Antoinette, Mrs. Ben Benson, Manchester. Also sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Mueller was a devout member of the Catholic Church and was blessed with the last rites of the church. The funeral services were held Saturday morning at St. Francis Church in Dyersville. Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery.
