In 1970, Daryl married Patricia Gray, and they had a beautiful daughter they named Shiela. Sadly, in 1972, Patricia and Shiela died in a car accident. In 1975, Daryl married Diane Carpenter, and they had four children, Amy, Daryl, Ann, and Jamie. While they later divorced in 1984, they continued to work together to raise their children. In 1989 Daryl married Christine Eschen, and together they raised her boys, Chad and Cory. In 2004, they adopted Lacey and Hunter. They later divorced in 2007.

Daryl had a unique, loving personality. Friends and family will remember him as a man who enjoyed making people laugh. He also liked people watching and good food, but his favorite pastime was hunting and fishing. He especially loved teaching his children and grandchildren how to hunt and fish. When Daryl hunted, he would always try to beat the other hunters to the timber. When asked where he got his latest deer, it was always “in the timber.”
