Rosalyn “Rosie” Frances Helle, 78, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020, at her home in Edgewood. Rosie was a Halloween baby born on October 31, 1941 in Holy Cross to Peter and Bertha (Clemen) Maiers. Rosie attended Holy Cross High School and graduated in 1959.

On February 4, 1961, Rosie was united in marriage to Greg Helle in Holy Cross. Six children were born to this union. They started farming in the Strawberry Point area before moving to an acreage Northeast of Edgewood.

Rosie was an active member of St. Mark Catholic Church and enjoyed being in the Edgewood Women’s Club, especially playing cards with her friends. Her hobbies included doing crossword and sudoku puzzles, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and crocheting, whether it be doilies with thread or afghans and baby blankets with yarn. Every grandchild and great-grandchild were blessed with a blanket.

Rosie will be missed by her five children, Lori (Glen) Ries and Greg Helle of Edgewood, Jeff (Peggy) Helle of Richfield, Wisconsin, Dan (Anna) Helle of Solon, and Steve Helle of Ely; ten grandchildren, Tyler, Cassi and Jenna Ries, Brady and Bailee Helle, Samantha (Brandon) Lichosik, Richard Koceja, Reegan, Grace, and Mitchell (Haley) Helle; and six great-grandchildren, Sadie, Carson, Ryan, Wesley, Georgia, and Eden. She is also survived by her three sisters, Katie (Rog)Steffen of Luxemburg, Maggie Bockenstedt of Earlville, Carol Lattner of Key West; one brother, Bernie Maiers of Cascade; brothers and sisters-in-law, Diane Maiers, Germaine Helle, and Dick (Connie) Helle; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Greg in 2008; a son, Dave in 2000; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Helle; two brothers, Joe Maiers and Dave Maiers; a sister, Annie Krapfl and seven in-laws, Shirl Maiers Spoerl, Vernie Bockenstedt, Dave Krapfl, Connie Maiers, Matt, Margie Helle and Art Helle.

Because of COVID-19 concerns, masks are strongly recommended at the funeral home and required at the church.
