Charles William “Charlie” Besler, 85, of Dundee, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2020, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. He was born on November 28, 1934, in Iowa, the son of Harold and Viola (Gasper) Besler. Charlie was raised and educated in the Lamont area and was a 1953 graduate of Lamont High School. Charlie joined the United States Army on July 9, 1957, and was honorably discharged on June 29, 1959.

On January 22, 1972, Charlie was united in marriage to Mary Ann Manchester in Oelwein. They lived and farmed together near Dundee. Charlie worked for the Iowa DOT and Backbone State Park. Mary Ann passed away on August 3, 2006.

Charlie married Audrey Farrell on November 13, 2008. Charlie was an avid conservationist. He enjoyed planting trees and fishing. He also loved feeding birds.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey Besler of Dundee; three nieces, Lisa (Steve) Finken, Dana (Jeff) Duncan, and Nikki Gorla; two great-nieces, Danielle (Jason)Yonker, Darcie (Clayton) Lewis;one great-nephew, Jim Besler and four great-great nieces, Jena and Natalie Yonker and Kayleigh and Rylie Lewis.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Ann Besler; and two brothers, Nicholas and John Adolf Besler.
