J. B. DUNHAM DIES FROM HEART ATTACK

Summons of Well Know Man Came Suddenly While in This City

FUNERAL IS TODAY

Had Enjoyed Wide Reputation as Skilled Mechanic, Was 67 Years of Age

J. B. Dunham, well known jeweler and citizen of Oneida, succumbed to a heart attack, while in Manchester last Saturday, February 6, 1932, his death occurring in a physician's office shortly after the noon hour. It seems that Mr. and Mrs. Dunham had come to Manchester at about ten o'clock in the forenoon to do their trading, and at about 11:30, just as they were starting for home, Mr. Dunham was stricken while seated under the wheel of his car. He was taken to the physician's office, and given medical attention. It was learned that he had only recently recovered from an attack of flu, leaving him in a weakened condition. Angina pectoris, aggravated by the flu, caused his death.

Funeral services are being held at the home in Oneida this (Tuesday) afternoon, Rev. Mr. De Long, former pastor of the Oneida Methodist church, is in charge of the services. Burial is being made in the family lot in the Earlville cemetery.

Mr. Dunham was a son of the late J. B. and Lucy Dunham, early residents of Oneida township, and was born on his father's farm Dec 5, 1864. He grew to manhood on the home farm, and in 1891, was united in marriage with Miss Mary A. Kenyon, and they engaged in farming until 1900, when he and Mrs. Dunham left the farm and took up their home in Oneida. Early in life Mr. Dunham revealed unusual abilities as a mechanic and devoted much of his time to watch repairing. His work was of such a high order that his services were in demand, and he opened a shop in Oneida. His patronage came from all over the United States, and friends who had moved to foreign lands would send their watches to Mr. Dunham to have them repaired.

Mrs. Dunham passed away at Oneida in 1914, and in 1916, he was united in marriage with Miss Adelin Cox, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Cox, of Oneida Township. He is survived by the widow, and the daughter, Miss Jeanette, and by a brother, Frank Dunham, of Oelwein; and two sisters, Mrs. Mertie Smith of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Ethel Bywater, of Grand Junction, Iowa.

Mr. Dunham had long been a faithful member of the Methodist church and gave liberally of his time and means in furthering the work of the church. Mr. Dunham served on the first town council of Oneida, and also served on the Oneida school board.

The sudden passing of Mr. Dunham has taken from the county one of the best men, a man who was thorough and conscientious in his work, and in his private life above reproach. He was friendly, and was held in the highest esteem and regard by everyone who had the good fortune to know him. Those who were attached to him in life, and who mourn for him now, have the earnest sympathy of many friends in their sorrow.
