A Dodge Township Citizen Gone

Adam Lasher, a highly respected and popular man, died on Monday evening, May 26th, at his home near Worthington, after an illness of several weeks.
He was born April 19th, 1826, at Saugerties, New York. In 1848 he emigrated and settled in the city of Milwaukee, and engaged in the mercantile business until the fall of 1850, when he removed to Delaware County, settling at Rockville, two miles north of Worthington, where he continued to reside up to the time of his death.

He was widely known and preeminently regarded for his upright life, and his nobility of character. By the will of the community in which he lived he has acted in the capacity of Justice of the Peace for 37 years, and has filled about all of the minor offices of his township, including the directorship of the school for 20 years. He was also for a number of years a member of the County Board of Supervisors. He was a deacon in the Baptist Church of Worthington, and was a useful and worthy member.

He was married to Mathilda Kebby in 1853; she died in 1865, leaving three daughters. In 1867 he was again untied in marriage to Eva A. McCune, by whom he has five children, three sons and two daughters.

The funeral took place yesterday morning at 10:30 a.m., at his late residence, conducted by the Rev. James Hill of Cascade. The obsequies were attended by a very large concourse of people, indicating the high esteem in which the deceased was held.
