After a long and tedious illness Edward Glissendorf died at Independence Thursday morning, September 2, 1908, as a result of a complication of diseases, primarily due from tuberculosis. The remains were brought to Manchester Friday, and the funeral was held Saturday, which was private, being conducted by the Rev. C. E. Lynde and the Rev. W. H. Ensign.
Mr. Glissendorf was born August 21, 1883 and resided with his parents in this city, until 1903, where he removed to Saint Paul, being employed there for several years. He was obliged to seek a more favorable climate on account of his health, and made his abode in Colorado and New Mexico until last spring, when he returned to this city. He has been cared for by his parents, until three weeks ago, when he was taken to independence for treatment, but was not able to obtain relief.
The news of his unexpected death was received with keen regret and sorrow by the community in general, as the young man was well liked and enjoyed a large circle of friends. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Glissendorf, three sisters, Mrs. W. H. Searles of Denver, Mrs. R. L. King of Chicago and L. H. Raymond of La Crosse, Wisconsin, and a brother, George residing in Prairie township.
