William Sternhagen, 74 a lifelong resident of this vicinity died a the hospital in Monticello Saturday Dec 18 following a stroke suffered several day previous.
A son of Mr. and Mrs William Sternhagen, Sr. he was born near Hopkinton Sept 15 1874. He married Pearl Turner at Manchester Jan. 17, 1900. the marriage was blessed with six children. Town sons preceded him in death. One died in infancy and William passes way in October 1947.
He resided on a farm near Worthington for many years, and moved to Hopkinton during the year of 1936, where the home has been since. He was a respected member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Henry Hokes (Elsie), Worthington,
Mrs. Joseph Kaiser (Esther), Earlville, and Mrs. Theo. Wall (Minnie), of Delhi; one son, Leo Sternhagen, Hopkinton; two brothers, Charles
Sternhagen of Nebraska and John of Epworth; four sisters, Mrs. Pat Werner, Worthington and Mrs Joe Miller of Hopkinton, and Mrs. Frank Rubener,
Worthington; 24 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.Funeral services were held at St. John's Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. Rev. H. A. Diers officiated. Interment was in the Hopkinton cemetery.
