Rev. H. P. Langridge, the Baptist minister at Waukon, was drowned last Saturday at the new power dam below Decorah. His family and others were holding a picnic there and late in the afternoon, being a good swimmer, he started to swim across the river, but became exhausted and sank only a short distance from his destination. No others of the party could swim and no boat could be obtained until it was too late to effect a rescue.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows that he is buried in Oakland Cemetery in Manchester, Iowa and that he was born February 25, 1874 and died May 22, 1909.
