Mr. Flaherty was born in Limerick, Ireland and was 94 years of age at the time of his death. He was a resident of Delaware County for many years. Upon coming to Delaware County, Mr. Flaherty located on a farm known as the Chas. Maurer farm east of Manchester, where about nine years ago Mrs. Flaherty passed away. After the death of his wife Mr. Flaherty removed to a small farm near Masonville where he resided for a number of years. During the past nine years he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Dan Lahey, north of Masonville, where he was given the tenderest care by the devoted daughter.

Left to mourn his death are two children, Mrs. Dan Lahey, of Masonville and John J. Flaherty of Greene, Iowa, one daughter, Katie who died in 1879. The sympathy of their friends is extended to them in this time of bereavement.
