Prominent Farmer Dies
Austin McGee, one of the well known and highly respected farmers of this county died at his home in Coffins Grove township, Wednesday morning, May 17th, 1911. He suffered a severe attack of measles last winter, since that illness he never full regained his strength. His death resulted from a complication of diseases.
The deceased is a son of Isaac McGee and was born August 25th, 1868, on the McGee homestead in Coffins Grove, where he has lived all his life. On December 24th 1891, he was united in marriage with Miss Emma Barr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Barr, who survives him together with the following children, all of whom live at home; Earl, Blanche, Garnet, Opal and Garrett.
He is also survived by his father Isaac McGee, and three brothers I. A. McGee of Coffins Grove township, William of Great Falls, Montana, and John of Fremont, Nebraska.
The funeral was held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home, Rev. J. F. Moore, pastor of the Congregational Church of this city officiating. Interment was made in Oakland cemetery.
The death of Mr. McGee is one of unusual sadness. He was young and in full vigor of manhood. His well kept and highly improved farm bears evidence of the work and energy he exerted and the pride he took in providing a comfortable and attractive home for his family. He was a man of absolute squarness and enjoyed the confidence of all who knew him. His widow and the five young children, the aged father and the other members of his family have the sincere sympathy of the community in their severe and irreparable loss.
