TWO DEATHS IN FAMILY

Mr. and Mrs. James Hogan, Both Die During The Past Week.

As this paper is about to go to press, we are informed that Mrs. Hogan, the widow of James Hogan, the subject of the above obituary, died this Tuesday Afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. She had been ill with pneumonia for several days and her family had feared that in her condition she might be unable to survive the great shock caused by the death of her husband.

The children of Mr. and Mrs. Hogan have the sincere sympathy of the community in their double bereavement in the death of both of their parents within the past week.

The funeral service of Mrs. Hogan will be held Thursday morning at 9 o'clock at the Catholic church Mrs. Hogan's obituary will appear in our next week's issue.

Mrs. James Hogan

Mrs. James Hogan, whose death occurred on last Tuesday afternoon and which was mentioned in last week's issue of The Democrat was born in Dublin, Ireland, on June 8, 1825. She spent her girlhood days in the city of Dublin, coming to America in her seventeenth year and locating at Philadelphia. She removed from there to Bloomington, Illinois, where she was united in marriage to the late James Hogan in 1856. They came to Dubuque immediately after their marriage, and after living there about a year came to Delaware county, where the deceased lived continuously until her death.

Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hogan, all of whom are living. They are as follows: Mrs. R. J. Bossert of Los Angeles, California, John D. Hogan, William D. Hogan and F. M. Hogan of Aberdeen, South Dakota, A. J. Hogan of Sioux City, Iowa, Mrs. J. J. Dudley of Manchester, Mrs. Wm. Sheldon of Wheaton, Illinois, and Mrs. E. E. Andrews of Emmett, Idaho.

The funeral services were held from the Catholic church on Thursday morning at 2 o'clock, Father J. J. Collins officiating.
