Mrs. S. K. Myers passed away at her home on East Union Street Thursday evening September 22nd, 1921, her death being caused by injuries she received when she was struck by a car the evening before, on East Main Street. It appears that Mrs. Myers had started to go to the home of her brother, A. E. Peterson, and just as she was crossing Main Street the electric lights were out, and a car was coming from the east with glaring headlights. The glaring headlights no doubt confused Mrs. Myers, and also blinded Mr. W. R. Cairns, the driver of the car which struck Mrs. Myers. The force of the car threw Mrs. Myers against the curb, causing a fracture of the skull. Mrs. Myers never regained consciousness, and death followed on Thursday evening.Elizabeth A. Peterson was born June 26th, 1952, at La Porte, Indiana. Her girlhood was spent in La Porte and she was educated in her native state. She came to Manchester as a young woman, and in September 1880, she was united in marriage with Mr. W. H. Seeds, who passed away here in 1894. She was united in marriage to Mr. S. K. Myers on April 3rd, 1901.
She is survived by her husband, one sister, Mrs. Hannah R. Jarrett of North Judson, Indiana ; one brother A. E. Peterson; a nephew A. R. Jarrett of Hammond, Indiana; two step-sons, Judge E. C. Seeds, of Washington, D. C.; Charles J. Seeds of this city; and also a step-daughter Mrs. Emily Hadley of Sioux City, Iowa.
Funeral services were held at the home on East Union Street, Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock, Rev. S. E. Beatty having charge of the services. Owing to the fact that Judge E. P. Seeds of Washington, D. C., was unable to reach Manchester until late Saturday night the interment services were held on Sunday afternoon in Oakland Cemetery.
