Richard “Rick” Timmons, 64, of Manchester died Thursday, February 13, 2014 of natural causes.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester. Visitation will be 3:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Manchester. Additional visitation one hour prior to services at the church from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Ryan.
Rick was born July 23, 1949, the son of Robert and Betty (Thompson) Timmons. He graduated from Olin High School in 1968. He was united in marriage with Coleen (Lyness) Timmons on November 27, 1971 at St. Patrick’s Church in Ryan.
Rick was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He worked at Nelson’s Meats in Cedar Rapids for over 30 years, and also worked for a short time at the Edgewood Locker. Rick was an avid sports fan, particularly of the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. He was also a longtime supporter of the West Delaware athletic programs.
Rick is survived by one son, Rob (Kara) Timmons of Summit, New Jersey; three granddaughters, Madison, Grace, and Olivia; his mother, Betty Timmons; siblings, Robert Timmons and JoAnn (Richard) Daubenmier; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Lyness; brothers and sisters-in-law Marilee (Carl) Steffen, Jolene (Mitchell) Ryan, William (Stacey) Lyness and Gerald Lyness; and many nieces and nephews.
Rick was preceded in death by his wife, Coleen Timmons; father, Robert Timmons; and father-in-law, Robert Lyness.
