EARLVILLE, Iowa - Lois M. Hunt, 86, of Waverly, formerly of Earlville, died Monday morning, Sept. 24, 2001, at Bartels Lutheran Home, Waverly.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Earlville United Parish, with the Rev. Keith Tomlinson and the Rev. Lynn Patrick officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Earlville. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Clifton Funeral Home, Earlville, and after 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.

She was born on Oct. 13, 1914, near Dell Rapids, S.D., daughter of Jesse and Bertha (Kingman) Matthews. She married Dale M. Hunt on Oct. 7, 1945; he died on June 21, 1999.

She spent most of her life in the Earlville area. She moved to Waverly in 1990, to be near a niece and entered Bartels Lutheran Home in 1998. She had a lifelong love of flowers, especially roses. She was an accredited flower show judge, a rose judge, and received awards from many garden and rose-related societies in Iowa and nationally.

Surviving are a sister, Clara Fenstermann; and several in-laws; and nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Richard Matthews.
