Ronald Eugene Rippon, 48, of Marion, formerly of Manchester, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home, Manchester, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday. Burial: Fairview Cemetery, Earlville, with military rites.

Survivors include his wife, Beth; two stepsons, Shannon Watt of Marion and David Watt of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Margaret Rippon of Edgewood; and two brothers, John Hansel of Greene and William Rippon of Manchester.

Also surviving are two nephews, James J. Hansel of Parkersburg and Justin Hansel of Ankeny; mother-in-law, Faith Trenary of Marion; and special friend, Vera Chartier of Marion.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, John Rippon; brother, Douglas Hansel; niece, Pauline Hansel; father-in-law, Herbert Trenary; and great-nephew, Donald "Pocko" Trenary.
