August William John Nieman, 96, of Manchester, formerly of Earlville, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, in the Good Neighbor Home, Manchester, after a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Earlville. Burial: Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Clifton Funeral Home, Earlville.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred; two daughters, Ilomae (Duane) Meling of Cylinder and Donna Joslin and friend Duayne Mere of Anamosa; four sons, Edward (Gayle) of Bricelyn, Minn., David (Yoly) of Edgewood, and Richard (Christy) and Duane (Karen), both of Earlville; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Schoeman of Cedar Falls; and two brothers, Albert (Hazel) of Earlville and Harold (Bernadine) of Delhi.

August was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Walter; and four sisters, Mary Milroy, Louise Wolfmeyer, Josie Nieman and Velma Nieman.

Memorials are preferred to the Good Neighbor Home and/or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
