MANCHESTER, Iowa - Donald H. Reth, 57, of Manchester, died suddenly Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at the Regional Medical Center, Manchester.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Manchester, with the Rev. David Wagner officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Earlville. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at Clifton Funeral Home, Earlville and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Donald, the son of Harold and Alberta Cooksley Reth, was born May 7, 1944, in Dubuque.

He graduated from Maquoketa Valley High School in 1962.

On Dec. 12, 1964, he married Marlene Hillers. They farmed together in the Delhi and Manchester area since that time.

He was a member of the Manchester United Methodist Church. He enjoyed dairy farming and John Deere tractors. He was very fond of his children and grandchildren and a favorite past time was feeding and watching the birds.

Surviving him besides his wife, Marlene, are his parents: Harold and Alberta, of Delhi; two daughters, Tammy (Brad) Pensel, of Elkport, and Lori (Ron) Sabers, of Manchester; two sons, Mike (Gina) Reth, of Manchester and Mark Reth, attending ISU, Ames; five grandchildren, Adam, Kristy and Kaitlyn Reth, Heather and Brittany Sabers, and one expected grandchild; four brothers, Virgil (Joan) Reth and Danny (Julie) Reth, both of Delhi, Harold (Laura) Reth and Randy (Diane) Reth, of Hopkinton; three sisters, Marie (Gerald) Blumhagen, of Castalia, Wilma (Louis) Parsons, of Hopkinton, and Bertha (Robert) Tribuno, of Cedar Rapids; plus several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are a brother, Glen Reth; a brother-in-law, Herbert Bishop; and an infant nephew.

A Donald Reth Memorial Fund has been established.
