Word reached here Thursday afternoon announcing the death of Mrs. J. H. Trewin, which took place at her home in Cedar Raids, following a brief illness of heart trouble.

Mrs. Trewin as Martha Rector was reared on a farm short distance north of Earlville and she was very well known throughout this locality. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Rector, were pioneer settlers of Delaware county and erected one of the first log cabins here about on a pre-emption claim which later was developed into one of the finest farms in the county. After her marriage to Mr. Trewin, the family lived for several years in Earlville and then moved to Lansing, Iowa, and about 10 years ago they established a house in Cedar Rapids, where they have since resided. A few years after the death of Mrs. Trewin's father, A. J. Rector, Mr. and Mrs. Trewin purchased the old Rector homestead and named it Altheim farm. Here in the heart of a fine hickory grove of
commodious and modern summer was erected some three years ago and since then it has been the custom of the family to spend the greater part of the summer season here, enjoying rural life to the fullest.

The hospitality of the Trewin home is well known to a large circle of friends who have passed many happy hours at Altheim. the sudden passing of this estimable woman has brought sorrow to the entire community, where she so long resided and words of sympathy are expressed by all for the devoted husband and son who are left heart broken.

Beside her immediate family Mrs. Trewin is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Delia Sargent of Independence and Mrs. Sarah Warsock of Wayne, Nebraska, and one brother, George Rector of Hartley.

One brother, John Rector of Oneida, died last March. The remains of Mrs. Trewin were brought here by special train on Sunday afternoon accompanied by many friends from Cedar Rapids and various cities throughout the state. A service was held at the grave in Fairview cemetery after which the body was tenderly laid to rest in the family lot. The funeral offerings were profuse and magnificent.
