Last week Wednesday the neighbors and friends of George Miller were shocked to hear of his very sudden death at his home about 7 miles north of Earlville. He seemed as well as usual and was in the yard when the fatal disease, apoplexy overtook him. He called to his wife who was but a few steps from him, but it was soon noticeable that all help was of no avail. Medical aid was summoned, however, but all too late and he soon passed away.

Mr. Miller was a very genial man and was never known to have an unkind word with any of his neighbors. He was known in his own community as "Uncle George" by old and young. He was a good honorable man and an upright citizen, a good husband and a loving father and brother. His six brothers and sisters have all preceded him to the grave, one brother dying but two months ago.

Six children still survive him. They are Seth Miller, of Almoral; Frank Miller, of Greeley, Martin Miller of Tracy, Iowa; John Miller, of Blake, Polk county, Wis.; Mrs. Anna Niederfrank, of Greeley; and Mrs Maggie Schlecht, of Milwaukee. One daughter, Mrs. Scoles, Preceded him but three months ago.

The funeral service took place at the house on Saturday morning, conducted by Rev. Crawford, of Greeley. All the surviving children with the exception of John were able to be in attendance at the funeral. Interment was made in Fairview cemetery. May he rest in peace. Earlville Phoenix
