Dubuque Telegraph Herald, January 7, 1957

Mrs. Elizabeth Miersen, 76, widow of the late Charles Miersen, of Colesburg, died at the home of her son, Herbert at Marion early New Years' morning, after an extended illness. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist Church in Colesburg with the Rev. Youtzy officiating at services and graveside services.
Burial was in the Oak Hill cemetery, Kramer Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Casket bearers were Milton Brockmeyer, George Woeste, Fred Keck and Harvey Koeneke and Harry Gull.

Mrs. Miersen was born Oct. 8, 1880, at Millville, Ia. She was a housewife and was a member of the Methodist church. She received her education at the Millville Country Schools.

Among her survivors are her son, Herbert of Marion; 4 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died August 1954; one sister and six brothers.
