GREELEY, Iowa - Kathleen C. Demmer, 70, of Greeley, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at the Regional Medical Center, Manchester, after a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Greeley, with the Rev. Ken Glaser presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Clifton Funeral Home, Earlville, where there will be a vigil service at 7 p.m. Friends also may call after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Kay, the daughter of Leo Joseph and Rose Loeffelholz Eilers, was born June 29, 1931, in Dubuque.

She married Loras H. Demmer on August 26, 1954, in Dyersville. They farmed near Ryan before moving to the Earlville area and have farmed near Greeley for the last 38 years.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Greeley and St. Anne's Study Club. Her family was very important to her. She enjoyed cooking, canning, quilting and gardening.
Surviving her besides her husband, Loras, are two sons, Kevin (Doris) Demmer, of Dyersville, and Dan Demmer, of Fairfax; five grandchildren, Brian, Heidi, Nicole, Tara and Abby Demmer; a sister, Donna (Vince) Lux, of Ryan; a brother, Ambrose (Kay) Eilers, of Monticello; and a brother-in-law, Donald A. (Dora) Demmer, of Dyersville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law, Grace and John Gassman; her father-in-law and mother- in-law, August and Lena Demmer.
A Kay Demmer Memorial Fund has been established.
