TELEGRAPH-HERALD AND TIMES JOURNAL, January 1, 1929

Manchester, Ia. Jan. 1. - -Special: William H. Hollister, 78, of this city, a resident of Delaware County since 1855, died at his home on North Franklin Street Monday. Mr. Hollister suffered a severe fall at his home about a month ago, and his death was due largely to this shock. Funeral services are incomplete.

Mr. Hollister was a son of William H. and Margaret Hollister, and was born at Westfield, N.Y., April 5, 1850. His parents removed to Delaware County in 1855 and located on a farm north of town, which later became known as the Mead Settlement, three and one-half miles north of Manchester. Prior to coming to this county, thirty years ago, Mr. Hollister was engaged in farming in this county, three years of his life was spent in S. Dakota.

He never married and is survived by two brothers; Horace , of Long Beach, Calif.; John J. Hollister, of Manchester; two sisters, Mrs. George Miller, who removed to Gallup, N. M. a few weeks ago; and Mrs. Gus Clute, of Greeley.

Mr. Hollister was a member of the Odd Fellows’ Order and of the Jones Mills Grange.
