MRS. J. M. PARIS
Manchester, Ia. – Jan. 1. Special: Funeral services for Mrs. J. M. Paris, 68, a resident of the Springs Branch neighborhood, who died at the home of her son, Dale Paris, Saturday, were held at the Delaware church Monday afternoon at 1:30 and interment was made in the Delaware Cemetery. Mrs. Paris’s death was attributed to an attack of influenza, bronchial pneumonia developing later.

Martha J. Grommon was born on the Grommon homestead now the Dale Paris home, March 27, 1860, and grew to womanhood in that locality. Sept. 30, 1882, she was married to Joseph M. Paris and all of their married life was spent in the Spring Branch and Delaware community. Mr. Paris died April 9, 1925, since which tome Mrs. Paris has lived amongst her children.

Surviving are three sons and one daughter; Philip whose house is north of Delaware; Dale on the home place; Dean of Denver, Colo.; and Mrs. Roy C. Harvey of Delaware. Two sons born to this union preceded her in death.

Two sisters and one brother also survive; Mrs. L. J. Gates and Mrs. C. F. Davis and J. H. Grommon of this city. Mrs. Paris had long been a member of the Baptist church and was prominent of the activities in her neighborhood for years.
