"AUTO CRASH KILLS MAN; YEAR'S 10th --
Melvin Knight Victim; Omaha Had Gone 35 Days Without Death"
"Melvin Knight, 59, of 4108 Nicholas Street, was injured fatally early Thursday evening in an auto, semi-trailer collision at Thirty-eighth and Dodge Streets.
Mr. Knight was Omaha's tenth traffic victim this year. His death was Nebraska's one hundred eighth traffic fatality of the year.
There had been 35 deathless days on Omaha's streets when Mr. Knight died at 12:50 a. m. Friday. ...[I edited out a lengthy description of the accident here]

Mr. Knight, a barber, is survived by his wife, Frances; daughters Mrs. Mary Kohler, 3357 Davenport St.; Mrs. Catherine Brennan, 3355 Davenport Street; and Mrs. Jane Tell, 2366 Burt Street. Funeral Tuesday, 8:30 a.m., from family residence, 4108 Nicholas St., to St. Cecilia's Cathedral at 9:00 a.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Rosary recitation Monday, 8:00 p. m. direction of Heafey & Heafey."
