DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Charles "Jim" Digmann, 63, of Dyersville, died after a long illness Sunday, Feb. 18, 1996, at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville. Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion, Post 137, at the church cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be an American Legion, Post 137, service at 7 p.m. and a parish scripture service at 8 p.m.

Mr. Digmann owned and operated the Stone Creek One Stop in Dyersville.

He was born on April 2, 1932, in Dyersville, son of Henry J. "Heinie" and Aileen (Cavanaugh) Digmann. He married Joyce Hogan on Oct. 13, 1952. He later married Peg Oldham Lammers on July 27, 1974, in Farley.

He was inducted into the Dubuque County Baseball Hall of Fame in 1995 after playing for the Worthington Cardinals and Dyersville White Hawks for more than 20 years. He was a member of American Legion, Post 137, in Dyersville.

Surviving are his wife, Peg; six daughters, Sherry (and Dave) Grimes, of Dubuque, Rae Marie (and Dan C.) Popp and Debra (and Bob) Hirsch, both of Platteville, Wis., Patricia (and Tim) Ginter and Paula (and Charles) Donar, both of Cuba City, Wis., and Dawne Digmann, of Lancaster, Wis.; four sons, Terry (and Tammy), of Anamosa, Dean (and Sherry), of Dyersville, Randy (and Lori), of Baraboo, Wis., and Charles Jr. (and Mary Benner), of Richland Center, Wis.; two stepdaughters, Jan (and Gary) Gotto and Barb (and Jeff) Watkinson, both of Dyersville; a stepson, Steve (and Mary Kay) Lammers, of St. Louis; 21 grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild; three brothers, Bob (and Jean), of Boone, Dale (and Judy), of Worthington, and Dave (and Chris), of Lebanon, Mo.; three sisters, Dorothy Hunt, of Hopkinton, Grace (and John) Kramer, of Dodgeville, Wis., and Nancy (and Jake) Besler, of Farley.

He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas, in June 1973; a step-grandson, Brian Gotto, on July 31, 1982; his parents; and two brothers, Morris and Kenny.Memorials are preferred.
